101 Records Mural
Green Street
I was commissioned in 1995 to paint a mural for 101 Music, a vintage record store in San Francisco. The shop owner wanted the mural to be a rendition of the song “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” to pay homage the neighborhood’s lurid appeal. My original design was the sheet music to this song. The mural and record store was used as a location for the movie Ed TV, directed by Ron Howard. It was a neighborhood icon until around 2015 when it was painted over.

101 Records Mural
Grant Avenue
The second 101 Music mural was a spinoff of the first mural and located around the corner on Grant Avenue, in San Francisco. The theme of this mural is the sheet music of “Paint It Black” by the Rolling Stones. It is a black background with white notes. It was used in a Japanese television commercial.
